🇺🇸 DreamColorPlus: preparation and shipping update
Hi everyone! I wanted to share another update with you.
Last week, I shipped some DreamColorPlus units. I’m now managing to get 30 controllers prepared every two days. The most time-consuming part is packing and sorting the items for each individual order.
I’m working late into the night to keep things moving, and I expect to finish shipping all orders before the end of October.
In the video, I share a little more about this work. Thank you so much for your patience, support, and trust in the project. I know you’re waiting, and I’m working hard to get each order on its way to you.
All the best,
Angelo

Hey everyone! I’m here to share a very important DreamColorPlus update! 🎮
Over the past few days, I haven’t been posting as often because I’ve been focused on preparing orders and organizing shipping. I know you’ve been waiting for news, and I want to show you some of the work happening behind the scenes.
We’ve finally developed a top cover that meets the project’s requirements! In the video, you can see part of the development, adjustments, and testing process.
This was a very challenging stage. Having a version manufactured in China, waiting for it to arrive, and only then finding out what needed fixing made each attempt take a long time. A seemingly simple part involves several details—shape, fit, and strength—that all need to work together.
That’s why we decided to produce the covers locally, using ABS filament for 3D printing, which provides suitable mechanical strength for this application. Local production also lets us monitor everything closely and make the necessary adjustments much faster.
I’m incredibly grateful to my childhood friend André, from @diecast.araras, who helped me design these parts and took responsibility for their production. Thank you for your support, your time, and your patience throughout so many attempts.
📦 On Tuesday, October 13, we’ll begin shipping DreamColors to our backers!
I expect to have all units shipped by the end of October. That’s the timeline I’m working toward, and I’ll keep you informed as shipping progresses.
As each order ships, I’ll try to contact the backer individually by email and also update the shipping information on Catarse.
Right now, I may not be able to answer emails as quickly as I’d like, but I will reply to everyone. Thank you for your understanding while I focus on organizing and shipping the units.
📖 To help answer questions about setup, use, and features, we’ve created the DreamColorPlus Wiki, available in Portuguese and English:
👉 dreamcolorplus.com.br
This Sunday, October 11, I’ll also make a substantial update to the Wiki, adding more guidance to help you get familiar with the project and make the most of its features.
I know it’s been a long wait. Behind every step forward, there has been a lot of work, testing, and challenges to overcome. Your support has made a huge difference in helping me keep going.
I’m very happy to finally reach this stage and start sending the DreamColors on their way to their new homes. Thank you for believing in the project and for being part of this journey! ❤️

Hi everyone!
I’ve been working hard on assembling the DreamColor controllers, and the units I’m currently assembling have passed their electronic tests. I’m still waiting for the printed parts and the battery holder screws to arrive so I can complete the assembly.
There’s another piece of news: the DreamColorPlus website is now live!
I’ve also spent some time organizing the wiki. It will be your main resource for the user manual, answers to common questions, and support guidance when you receive your controller. I’ll continue expanding and updating its content.
I’ll keep replying to everyone by email, but individual replies may take some time while I’m working on assembly. That’s why I want to make the wiki clear and useful, so you can find the information you need more easily.
I haven’t managed to publish the video showing the final assembly process yet, as I had hoped. I’ll try to put it together and publish it this week, so you can get a closer look at this stage of the project.
Thank you all for your patience, your trust, and your continued support for DreamColorPlus!

DreamColorPlus — News | The Boards Have Arrived!
In the September 13 news post, I shared confirmation that one of the shipments was on its way to Brazil. Now we have tangible progress: the boards are here, allowing me to move forward with preparing the next controllers.
After such a long wait, it feels great to finally have this hardware on my workbench. I recorded a video so you can take a closer look at what arrived:
What This Arrival Means
As explained previously, the production run of 200 DreamColors was split across three shipments handled by UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Each shipment is progressing separately. The video shows the hardware I have already received; it does not mean that all shipments have arrived or that all 200 controllers are ready.
Having these boards here allows me to move forward with inspecting them, preparing the electronics, and testing the assemblies.
What Still Needs to Be Done
The final version of the top cover is still pending and is needed to complete the controllers in their final configuration. This is an important remaining part of the mechanical work that must be completed before the fully assembled controllers can ship.
Each unit also needs to go through assembly, firmware flashing, calibration, and functional testing of both the controller and the dongle. Only after these steps are complete will it be ready to be packed and shipped.
So today’s news is about the arrival of the boards and the progress this makes possible — it is not yet an announcement that the controllers are ready to ship.
The Work Continues
I know you are waiting for your controllers. I want to keep sharing progress clearly, showing both what has been accomplished and what still needs to be completed.
Today, I can finally show you these boards here with me, rather than just another tracking update. There is still work ahead, but this arrival is an important step toward completing the next units.
Thank you to everyone who continues to follow and support DreamColorPlus!

DreamColorPlus — News | September 13, 2026
Hi everyone, we have an important update this week: one of the new shipments of DreamColorPlus circuit boards and components is in transit to Brazil.
Shipping Progress for the New Production Batch
In the previous post, I introduced the new batch of 200 DreamColors, with shipping split between UPS, FedEx, and DHL, rather than placing the entire batch in a single shipment.
On September 9, JLCPCB informed me that the items in the DHL shipment had been packaged and were awaiting pickup. Today, September 13, I received a notification from DHL confirming that this shipment is in transit to Brazil.
This is a step forward from the preparation-for-shipping stage reported in the previous news post. This confirmation applies specifically to the DHL shipment. It does not mean that all 200 units are traveling together or that all three shipments are at the same stage.
What Happens After Arrival
Once the shipment arrives in Brazil, it will still need to go through customs inspection and clearance. Being in transit therefore does not mean that the boards are already available for assembly.
After I receive the shipment, the next steps include checking the boards and components, completing assembly, flashing the firmware, calibrating, and individually testing the controllers and dongles.
After that, each reward will be prepared, packaged, and shipped to its backer with tracking information.
About Deliveries
I know the information everyone is most eager to hear is when they will receive their DreamColor. I do not yet have a confirmed shipping date for the next rewards, as this depends on customs clearance and the actual receipt of the boards, followed by assembly and testing.
I want to keep you informed of each step forward, clearly distinguishing what has been confirmed from what still depends on the next stages.
Thank you to everyone who continues to follow and support the project.

Três fretes separados: UPS, FedEx e DHL
uma remessa pela UPS;
uma remessa pela FedEx;

consoles e configurações diferentes;
jogos com comportamentos diferentes;
versões com um ou dois analógicos;
utilização de VMU e cartão SD;
testes do rumble;
testes do controle e do dongle;
atualização de firmware;
ergonomia e montagem;
testes das placas e dos protótipos;
comunicação entre o controle, o dongle e o Dreamcast;
calibração dos analógicos e gatilhos;
funcionamento do rumble;
compatibilidade com o Flycast;
utilização de VMUs pelo cartão SD;
modos e perfis específicos para jogos;
reorganização do menu;
processo de atualização e recuperação do firmware;
testes e estudos relacionados aos emuladores;
correções mecânicas e de encaixe;
organização da nova produção;
Crazy Taxi;
Soul Calibur;
Xeno Crisis;
Quake III Arena;
Unreal Tournament.
Emuladores dentro do DreamColor
PC Engine;
Game Gear;
Game Boy Color;
Master System.
Depois disso, serão avaliados:
Mega Drive;
Super Nintendo.
configurações do controle;
perfis e modos de jogos;
gerenciamento de VMUs;
opções do dongle;
calibração;
emuladores;
atualização e recuperação do firmware.
mover ligeiramente a posição do furo superior do USB-C;
melhorar o acabamento da superfície para impressão em resina SLA;
conclusão das etapas restantes da nova produção;
transferência das unidades ao centro de distribuição;
coleta das três remessas pela UPS, FedEx e DHL;
acompanhamento independente dos três fretes;
recebimento e inspeção das unidades;
conclusão dos ajustes mecânicos;
gravação do firmware;
calibração individual dos controles;
testes do controle e do dongle no Dreamcast;
montagem conforme a configuração de cada recompensa;
embalagem;
o estágio atualizado da produção;
a situação individual dos três fretes;
novos testes do firmware;
fotos ou vídeos das unidades funcionando;
ENGLISH VERSION;
Delays, New Production, Real-World Testing, and Next Steps
Everyone, I need to begin this update by being direct: DreamColorPlus deliveries have been delayed far beyond what I expected and beyond the estimates I previously shared.
I sincerely apologize for this.
This update is longer because I want to present the situation as it really is: what happened to the first shipment, the progress of the new production run, what I have been developing, how testing is being carried out, and the path forward until deliveries begin.
What Happened to the First Shipment
A significant part of the production entered an international logistics and customs process that became far more complex and time-consuming than expected.
Different options were evaluated to release, redirect, or return this shipment. Some of these alternatives involved costs that could be close to—or even higher than—the amount required for a new production run.
The previous shipment has not been abandoned. Its tracking received new updates on September 2, 3, and 4, 2026, all listed as “Clearance Event,” meaning events related to the customs clearance process.
These records show that the process is still active. However, they do not yet mean that the shipment has been definitively cleared or that transportation has resumed.
I will continue trying to resolve this shipment, but I decided not to leave the entire campaign stalled and exclusively dependent on it.
For that reason, I placed a new batch into production.
Tracking for the previous shipment showing customs clearance events recorded on September 2, 3, and 4, 2026. The process remains active, but there is still no confirmation that the shipment has been definitively cleared.
New Batch of 200 DreamColor Units
The new production run consists of a batch of 200 DreamColorPlus units.
This production is not merely in the planning stage. On September 6, 2026, one of the records associated with the new batch was updated by JLCPCB to:
“Production completed, ready to be sent to the distribution center.”
The estimated date of September 7 refers to arrival at the logistics operator’s own distribution center. It does not represent arrival in Brazil or the beginning of deliveries to backers.
After this internal transfer, the pickup and international transportation stages will begin.
JLCPCB record from September 6 showing that production was completed and the order was being prepared for transfer to the distribution center. The September 7 estimate refers to this internal transfer, not arrival in Brazil.
Three Separate Shipments: UPS, FedEx, and DHL
Instead of placing all 200 units in a single shipment, I divided the new batch into three independent shipments:
one shipment via UPS;
one shipment via FedEx;
one shipment via DHL.
This division reduced shipping costs and distributed the logistics flow more effectively.
It also prevents the entire new batch from being concentrated in a single shipment and depending on the same carrier and exactly the same transportation and clearance stages.
Each shipment will be able to move forward independently. This also means that parts of the production may arrive at different times, instead of all 200 units depending on a single shipment.
I will publish the individual tracking information as soon as each carrier confirms pickup of its respective shipment. I will not report any of them as shipped before that confirmation exists.
Ten People Are Already Using the DreamColor
Today, ten people already have a DreamColor in their hands, including me.
The photos and videos in this update show these units at different stages of development, demonstration, and real-world use.
Adam Koralik has one unit. He has been helping to identify and fix bugs, as well as review the controller’s translations.

5. Luiz Nai
Luiz Nai has one of the prototype units.
6. Thales Câmara
Another unit is with Thales Câmara.
7. Diogo, from São Roque, São Paulo
Diogo helped me identify some very important bugs in the single-analog-stick version.
8. Fábio Silva
Fábio Silva has one unit and has also helped greatly with validating the updates developed so far.
9. Eduardo
Eduardo, who already knew the DreamColor’s features very well at Retrocon—some of them even better than I did—became one of my best friends and now helps extensively by testing features and updates.
These units are extremely important because they allow the DreamColor to be tested away from my workbench and under different conditions:
different consoles and configurations;
games with different behaviors;
versions with one or two analog sticks;
VMU and SD card use;
rumble testing;
controller and dongle testing;
firmware updates;
ergonomics and assembly;
extended periods of use.
The feedback from these people helps uncover problems that often do not appear during a quick test.
Every reported incompatibility, failure, or unexpected behavior leads to a new round of verification. Likewise, their suggestions show which features need to be clearer, which options need to be reorganized in the menu, and what needs to be explained in the manual.
This feedback is important because I do not want to produce and deliver 200 units only to discover afterward that a problem could have been fixed during testing with the first units.
The people who already have the DreamColor are directly contributing to the development and validation of the product that will be delivered to all backers.
What I Have Been Working On During This Period
Work on the DreamColorPlus has not been limited to manufacturing the boards.
During this period, I have been working simultaneously on:
testing the boards and prototypes;
communication among the controller, dongle, and Dreamcast;
analog stick and trigger calibration;
rumble functionality;
Flycast compatibility;
using VMUs through the SD card;
game-specific modes and profiles;
menu reorganization;
the firmware update and recovery process;
emulator-related testing and research;
mechanical and fit corrections;
organizing the new production run;
The firmware is not being developed from scratch. There are already working foundations for the controller, the dongle, and communication with the Dreamcast, all tested on the actual hardware.
The current work is focused on preserving this stable foundation while new features are integrated and tested separately.
Some attempts to combine many changes at once caused regressions in features that were already working. When that happens, I return to the latest stable foundation, compare the behavior, and then integrate each change again individually.
This process is slower, but it is much safer than flashing an experimental firmware build onto the entire production run and shipping it simply to try to compensate for the delay.
Rumble and Flycast Compatibility
There is already a working foundation with rumble support and tested compatibility with Flycast.
This does not mean that every possible combination of games, computers, accessories, and settings has been fully validated. It means that these features already have a working foundation and that testing is being expanded without abandoning what has already passed validation.
Feedback from the people already using the DreamColor is also helping with this validation.
Game-Specific Modes and Profiles
One of the areas I have been developing is better use of the two analog sticks and additional features in games with very different control schemes.
The games being used as references include:
Crazy Taxi;
In the Crazy Taxi profile currently being developed, the left trigger retains its normal braking behavior, while the right trigger can reproduce the X button command while it is pressed.
Soul Calibur;
Xeno Crisis;
Quake III Arena;
Unreal Tournament.
Soul Calibur makes it possible to explore alternative modes compatible with Dreamcast accessories in order to use the second analog stick.
Quake III Arena and Unreal Tournament depend both on the controller mode and on the settings configured within the game itself.
Xeno Crisis is one of the reference titles for dual-analog-stick use.
These profiles are still being tested and refined. I do not want to publish a definitive list now and later discover that a particular game requires a different configuration.
Once each mode has been validated, it will be documented along with the game, the profile used, and the required settings.
Managing Multiple VMUs
Management of multiple VMU pages through the SD card also remains in development.
The goal is to allow the DreamColor to store and organize different VMUs, with a quick way to switch between them.
This feature requires special care because it directly involves users’ save data. It is not enough for the switch to appear fast: the process must ensure that the previous page was saved correctly and that no data will be lost during the change.
Testing has already revealed points that need to be handled very carefully. For that reason, I will not present multiple-VMU management as complete until save-data safety has been validated.
Emulators Within the DreamColor
I am also working on running emulators within the DreamColor itself, taking advantage of its screen, controls, SD card, and internal hardware.
The current roadmap includes starting with lighter systems, such as:
PC Engine;
Game Gear;
Game Boy Color;
Master System.
After that, the following systems will be evaluated:
Mega Drive;
Super Nintendo.
At this time, this area should be understood as development and integration, not as a list of completed emulators.
Each system needs to be evaluated separately in terms of performance, image quality, audio, control input, file access, and stability.
I do not want to promise a definitive list before real-world testing. As each integration reaches a demonstrable stage, I will share videos and concrete results.
Why the Manual Has Not Yet Been Published
I had planned to make the manual link available, but I decided not to publish it yet because the DreamColor’s menu and internal organization are still changing significantly.
New sections are being reorganized, including:
controller settings;
game profiles and modes;
VMU management;
dongle options;
calibration;
emulators;
firmware updates and recovery.
I do not want you to read one set of instructions now and then, shortly afterward, find the options in different places or see the procedure change drastically.
That would cause even more confusion precisely when you need to update, configure, and use the controller.
The manual has not been abandoned. It is still being prepared alongside the evolution of the menu.
The link will be published when the main structure is stable enough for the instructions to match the product you will actually receive.
After that, smaller changes can be documented through revisions without requiring everyone to relearn the entire system.
Final Mechanical Adjustments
The latest prototype of the top cover revealed a few adjustments that are needed before final production:
slightly repositioning the upper USB-C opening;
improving the surface finish for SLA resin printing;
finalizing the posts and spacers that position the analog sticks at the correct height.
Both the original sticks and the 3D-printed sticks require these spacers to reach the correct position.
This is not a complete redesign of the shell, but a set of final fit, height, and finish corrections that need to be validated before mass production.
What Still Needs to Happen Before Shipping
The next steps are:
completion of the remaining stages of the new production run;
transfer of the units to the distribution center;
pickup of the three shipments by UPS, FedEx, and DHL;
independent tracking of the three shipments;
receipt and inspection of the units;
completion of the mechanical adjustments;
firmware flashing;
individual controller calibration;
testing the controller and dongle on the Dreamcast;
assembly according to each reward configuration;
packaging;
the beginning of shipping in batches, with tracking information.
Some of these steps are taking place in parallel. Large-scale assembly, however, depends on the arrival of the new production run.
About a New Delivery Date
I know the most important question is when deliveries will begin.
After the previous estimates were not met, I do not believe it would be right to publish another optimistic date before all manufacturing stages have been completed and tracking information is available for all three shipments.
Dividing the batch among UPS, FedEx, and DHL distributes the logistics flow more effectively, but each shipment must first be collected and enter international transit.
Once that happens, I will be able to present a schedule based on the units’ actual arrival and on the weekly capacity for assembly, calibration, testing, and shipping.
Until then, my commitment is to maintain communication and provide evidence of progress at every stage.
The next update will be published by September 13, 2026, even if one of the shipments remains unchanged.
It will include:
the updated production status;
the individual status of all three shipments;
new firmware tests;
photos or videos of working units;
progress on the menu, game modes, VMUs, and emulators.
I do not believe it is fair to ask only for patience without providing information and evidence.
The DreamColorPlus project is still moving forward. The delay is real, and so are the problems we have faced, but today there is a new production run of 200 units divided into three shipping flows, as well as ten people using the DreamColor and directly helping the project evolve.
Once again, I apologize for the delay.
Thank you to everyone who backed the campaign, followed its progress, tested the product, and asked for explanations. You have the right to know exactly what stage the project has reached.
I will continue to share our progress until all rewards have been produced, assembled, and shipped.
VERSÃO EM PORTUGUÊS;
Três fretes separados: UPS, FedEx e DHL
uma remessa pela UPS;
uma remessa pela FedEx;

atualização e recuperação do firmware.
mover ligeiramente a posição do furo superior do USB-C;
melhorar o acabamento da superfície para impressão em resina SLA;
conclusão das etapas restantes da nova produção;
transferência das unidades ao centro de distribuição;
coleta das três remessas pela UPS, FedEx e DHL;
acompanhamento independente dos três fretes;
recebimento e inspeção das unidades;
conclusão dos ajustes mecânicos;
gravação do firmware;
calibração individual dos controles;
testes do controle e do dongle no Dreamcast;
montagem conforme a configuração de cada recompensa;
embalagem;
o estágio atualizado da produção;
a situação individual dos três fretes;
novos testes do firmware;
fotos ou vídeos das unidades funcionando;
ENGLISH VERSION;
Instead of placing all 200 units in a single shipment, I divided the new batch into three independent shipments:
one shipment via UPS;
one shipment via FedEx;
one shipment via DHL.
2. Costenaro, from the Costenaro Play channel
Another unit is with Costenaro, from the Costenaro Play channel.
3. Anderson, from the TBT Games channel
Anderson, from the TBT Games channel, also has a unit.
4. Fábio, from the DrasgonDigger channel
Fábio, from the DrasgonDigger channel, has one unit and produced an excellent DreamColor assembly tutorial.
These units are extremely important because they allow the DreamColor to be tested away from my workbench and under different conditions:
different consoles and configurations;
games with different behaviors;
versions with one or two analog sticks;
VMU and SD card use;
rumble testing;
controller and dongle testing;
firmware updates;
ergonomics and assembly;
extended periods of use.
During this period, I have been working simultaneously on:
testing the boards and prototypes;
communication among the controller, dongle, and Dreamcast;
analog stick and trigger calibration;
rumble functionality;
Flycast compatibility;
using VMUs through the SD card;
game-specific modes and profiles;
menu reorganization;
the firmware update and recovery process;
emulator-related testing and research;
mechanical and fit corrections;
organizing the new production run;
Crazy Taxi;
In the Crazy Taxi profile currently being developed, the left trigger retains its normal braking behavior, while the right trigger can reproduce the X button command while it is pressed.
Soul Calibur;
Xeno Crisis;
Quake III Arena;
PC Engine;
Game Gear;
Game Boy Color;
Master System.
After that, the following systems will be evaluated:
Mega Drive;
New sections are being reorganized, including:
controller settings;
game profiles and modes;
VMU management;
dongle options;
calibration;
emulators;
firmware updates and recovery.
The latest prototype of the top cover revealed a few adjustments that are needed before final production:
slightly repositioning the upper USB-C opening;
improving the surface finish for SLA resin printing;
finalizing the posts and spacers that position the analog sticks at the correct height.
Both the original sticks and the 3D-printed sticks require these spacers to reach the correct position.
This is not a complete redesign of the shell, but a set of final fit, height, and finish corrections that need to be validated before mass production.
What Still Needs to Happen Before Shipping
The next steps are:
completion of the remaining stages of the new production run;
transfer of the units to the distribution center;
pickup of the three shipments by UPS, FedEx, and DHL;
independent tracking of the three shipments;
receipt and inspection of the units;
completion of the mechanical adjustments;
firmware flashing;
individual controller calibration;
testing the controller and dongle on the Dreamcast;
assembly according to each reward configuration;
packaging;
the beginning of shipping in batches, with tracking information.
It will include:
the updated production status;
the individual status of all three shipments;
new firmware tests;
photos or videos of working units;
progress on the menu, game modes, VMUs, and emulators.
I will continue to share our progress until all rewards have been produced, assembled, and shipped.

a cor da carcaça: branca ou preta;
a cor dos sticks analógicos: cinza ou preto;
se o apoio inclui mais de uma unidade;
carcaça branca ou preta;
organização e clareza dos menus;
interface mais amigável;
suporte a múltiplos idiomas;
integração do microfone;
organização dos módulos de emulação;
separação das configurações de cada apoiador;
produção e acabamento das carcaças;
montagem das unidades;
gravação da firmware;
testes individuais de funcionamento;
embalagem e envio;

ENGLISH
DreamColor Plus: final stretch, questionnaire open, and deliveries planned for August
Hello, supporters!
We have finally reached August, the month that marks the final stretch of this journey. Despite the delays encountered during previous stages, the current plan remains to complete the assembly and shipment of the campaign rewards during August.
Before explaining the next steps, I would like to thank all of you once again for your patience, trust, and support.
The color and shipping address questionnaire is now open
The Catarse questionnaire is now available for you to confirm:
the shell color: white or black;
the analog stick color: gray or black;
whether your pledge includes more than one unit;
the shipping address linked to your pledge.
The response deadline is August 12, 2026, at 11:59 PM, Brasília time.
For pledges that include more than one unit, the selections made in the questionnaire will be applied to the first unit. Supporters who answer “Yes” to the additional-units question will be contacted through the email address registered on Catarse so that we can confirm the remaining color combinations.
During the address confirmation step, please carefully check the information displayed. If the address is still correct, simply confirm it. If it has changed, update it before submitting your response.
Anyone who cannot find the questionnaire in their pledge area may contact me. If no response is received before the deadline, we will use the color combination available at the time of assembly and the shipping address linked to the pledge on Catarse.
A project built with extensive personal involvement
I also want to transparently share some of the work taking place behind this project.
Although I have received valuable help at different times from friends, collaborators, developers, and members of the community — help for which I am extremely grateful — most of the DreamColor Plus daily operation is still handled directly by me.
This includes electronic development, firmware, mechanical modeling, corrections, testing, purchasing, communication with suppliers, quality control, international logistics, order organization, individual assembly, dongle preparation, packaging, and supporter assistance.
I have been doing all of this because I genuinely love this project and believe in what we are building. At the same time, having so many responsibilities concentrated in one person helps explain why certain stages required more time than I originally expected.
When a project moves from the prototype stage to production batches of more than 50 units, deadlines no longer depend only on the developer. During some stages involving orders manufactured in China, both production and international transportation failed to meet the dates originally provided. Some components, shells, and mechanical parts arrived later than expected, even though the orders had been placed and monitored in advance.
This does not remove my responsibility to you, but I believe it is important to explain where many of the delays originated.
Shells, colors, and final finish
Throughout development, I printed and tested several shell colors. Some looked very interesting as individual prototypes, but when evaluated for larger-scale production, consistency, durability, finish, and cost, none of the alternatives beyond black and white provided an acceptable balance of quality and feasibility.
For this reason, the official campaign options will be:
white or black shell;
gray or black analog sticks.
I would rather limit the options and provide a consistently finished product than offer many colors without being able to guarantee the same quality standard across every unit.
The upper closing cover has reached a good-quality result, and the dongles have also achieved an assembly and finishing standard that I consider suitable for delivery.
DreamColor Plus at Retrocon Brasil
Presenting DreamColor Plus at Retrocon Brasil was a very important moment for the project. A limited number of units were delivered during the event, and the public response was extremely positive.
These first delivered units also provided valuable final real-world validation. They allowed me to identify small details in the assembly and finishing process that could be improved. These were process and assembly refinements that did not require changes to the electronics, redesigned circuit boards, or modifications to the established final production.
I am very grateful to the supporters and friends who received their units at Retrocon and are contributing observations and testing.
I also apologize again to everyone who attended the event expecting to collect a DreamColor Plus but was unable to do so because of logistical delays involving the shells and other components. I know that some people planned and traveled specifically for this, and I sincerely regret that I could not serve everyone at that time.
Firmware, menus, and updates
The hardware is now defined, and the remaining work is concentrated on software stabilization and refinement.
The areas still being improved include:
clearer and better-organized menus;
a more user-friendly interface;
multilingual support;
microphone integration;
organization of the emulation modules;
stability, update, and recovery testing.
I am carefully separating what must be fully stable in the initial delivery version from what may be provided later through USB firmware updates. I do not want additional features to become new obstacles to shipping the units.
As soon as the material is properly organized, tested, and documented, I also intend to open a GitHub space for the color filters and palettes, together with documentation and any files that can safely be made publicly available.
Why some corrections cause delays
Every delay in this project has had the same purpose: to deliver something good, functional, and fair to the people who believed in the campaign.
I do not believe it would be right to ship a unit while knowing that a necessary correction can be completed before delivery. When I find an issue that could compromise the experience or product quality, I prefer to correct it, test it again, and accept a few additional days of work.
This may cause a delay, but it prevents the problem from being transferred to the supporter.
At the same time, I am being careful not to keep adding features indefinitely. The priority now is to complete a stable version, assemble every unit, test it individually, and ship it.
Next steps
Once the questionnaire closes, the responses will be organized according to each shell and analog stick combination. The following stages will then be completed:
organization of each supporter’s configuration;
shell production and finishing;
unit assembly;
firmware installation;
individual functional testing;
packaging and shipping;
tracking-code registration.
After the final campaign reward has been properly prepared and shipped, I intend to open a new interest list for people who discovered DreamColor Plus during or after the campaign and would like to purchase a future unit.
This new phase will be managed separately and will not consume components, time, or units reserved for current supporters. The absolute priority remains fulfilling every existing Catarse pledge.
I am tired — I will not hide that — but I am also genuinely satisfied and proud to see the project reaching this stage. Every assembled board, corrected shell, line of firmware, and completed test represents a great deal of work, learning, and care for this project.
Thank you to everyone who continues to be part of this journey. Thank you for your patience, messages, constructive criticism, testing, and, above all, your trust.
We truly are in the final stretch.

a cor da carcaça: branca ou preta;
a cor dos sticks analógicos: cinza ou preto;
se o apoio inclui mais de uma unidade;
carcaça branca ou preta;
organização e clareza dos menus;
interface mais amigável;
suporte a múltiplos idiomas;
integração do microfone;
organização dos módulos de emulação;
separação das configurações de cada apoiador;
produção e acabamento das carcaças;
montagem das unidades;
gravação da firmware;
testes individuais de funcionamento;
embalagem e envio;

The Catarse questionnaire is now available for you to confirm:
the shell color: white or black;
the analog stick color: gray or black;
whether your pledge includes more than one unit;
the shipping address linked to your pledge.
For this reason, the official campaign options will be:
white or black shell;
gray or black analog sticks.
The areas still being improved include:
clearer and better-organized menus;
a more user-friendly interface;
multilingual support;
microphone integration;
organization of the emulation modules;
stability, update, and recovery testing.
The following stages will then be completed:
organization of each supporter’s configuration;
shell production and finishing;
unit assembly;
firmware installation;
individual functional testing;
packaging and shipping;
tracking-code registration.
To everyone who supported DreamColor, I know you have been waiting for updates. I have been working intensively on production, and because of that, I have not been able to share updates as often as I would have liked.
But today I have two great pieces of news to share.
The first is that we have made significant progress with production. The pilot boards have been validated, the manufacturing version has been defined, and the enclosures have also been approved in both white and black.
In the video, I show some of these versions, including how DreamColor looks with the black front shell and gray rear shell. The dongle has also been validated, and we are now moving forward with assembly.
The second great piece of news is especially for our Catarse supporters: we will be able to bring 10 DreamColor units for in-person pickup at Retrocon, which will take place on:
July 24, Friday
July 25, Saturday
July 26, Sunday
Since shipments were originally scheduled to begin in August, this means we will be able to deliver 10 units early during Retrocon.
To organize these pickups, supporters who are interested must complete the form below using the same email address used for their Catarse pledge:
In the form, you will be able to indicate which days you will attend the event and choose your preferred enclosure color between white and black.
The 10 pickups will be organized in order of confirmation, after we verify the pledge information.
Submitting the form does not automatically guarantee a pickup. Selected supporters will receive confirmation by email.
One-unit limit per supporter at Retrocon
Because only 10 units will be available for this first in-person delivery, pickup at Retrocon will be limited to one unit per supporter, including supporters who purchased more than one DreamColor.
This limit applies only to the units being delivered early at the event. The goal is to give more supporters the opportunity to receive their DreamColor in person.
This does not change the total number of units purchased by each supporter. Any additional units included in the same pledge will be shipped later with the upcoming production batches.
Important information about Retrocon admission
DreamColor pickup will take place inside Retrocon, but admission tickets and entry to the event are separate and are not included with the Catarse pledge or the DreamColor pickup.
Each supporter is responsible for purchasing their own event ticket, checking ticket availability, and following the rules and opening hours established by the Retrocon organizers.
The DreamColor form is only intended to organize product pickup. It does not serve as an event ticket, admission reservation, or event credential.
The remaining DreamColor units will begin shipping in August, as assembly and testing of each unit are completed.
After Retrocon, we will open a new form so that all supporters can choose their enclosure color and confirm or update their shipping address before their order is sent.
It is very exciting to finally reach this stage, show the progress of the project, and begin delivering the first DreamColor units.
Thank you to everyone who supported the project and continues to follow DreamColor’s development!
